16 September: Nathan Mpangala gave it all when he held a hangout at Nafasi on 16th and shared stories about his tour in Songea to attend a local event called Maji Maji Festival at Songea district in Ruvuma region. CHAP CHAP Graffiti
17 September: Graffiti “Tales Behind Cans” with WACHATA Crew; Last Saturday was a thrilling event with the performances from hip hop artists Nash MC, Mansu Li, dirt bikers, and more. But the best of all was the afternoon Chap Chap workshop where the Wachata family taught different people how to do Graffiti. Now the walls at Nafasi are full of beautiful graffiti, thanks to the people who came and participated in the event.

Pia Wachata walifundisha jinsi ya kufanya Graffiti na sasa kuta zote za Nafasi zimependezeshwa kwa Graffiti hizo.

About Visual Art Competition;
We also remind our readers about the Visual Art Competition sponsored by the Spanish Embassy for young Tanzanian artists, 18-35 years old, on the theme of Don Quixote: A Spanish Legend through Tanzanian eyes. The exhibition of all of the eligible submissions will be at Nafasi on 1 December 2016, and the winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to ARCO in Madrid, Spain, one of the country’s top Contemporary Art Fairs. 'The Great Circle'
Francois Knoetze's 'The Great Circle' is a playful exploration of the stories, spaces and objects encountered during his two month-long Artist Residency at Nafasi Artspace in Dar es Salaam. Through a series of photos, sculptural masks, performances and interviews, Knoetze has incorporated various vantage points (from the drone's eye in the sky to the stories that walk the city streets) to create a tangled portrait of the city, with its multitude of perspectives, histories and dreams. 'The Great Circle' was created in collaboration with local artists, dancers, tour guides and writers.

About Wikiendi Live!!
1st October, Wikiendi Live!! As days goes the big day is approaching where we will have three live musicians in one stage at Nafasi Art Space at your service. If you missed last month’s Wikiendi Live, then this is your chance to catch up on all that you missed. On October 1st we will have Thomas Ongala and the Bongo Beat Band, Misoji and Kifimbo performing live. Its free entrance and you are most welcome. Don’t miss this one!

CALL FOR VIDEO ART SUBMISSIONS
The Boda Boda Lounge Project is a cross-continental video festival that will feature at over 15 spaces throughout Africa between the 18 – 20 November 2016. Boda Boda Lounge Project is currently accepting video art submissions from artists based in Africa and of African descent. Relevant submissions will be put forward for intercontinental screening and exhibition programming.
The Boda Boda Lounge Project is a collaborative project between VANSA (South Africa), Waza (Congo DRC) and VAN Lagos (Nigeria). The deadline for submissions is 13 October 2016. For application forms and more details click here >>

SIKU YA MSANII
24 September - Siku ya Msanii will be held at Makumbusho Village Museum. Several Nafasi artists will participate. We also currently have nomination forms for the Siku ya Msanii Humanitarian Award and Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as application forms to exhibit/perform at the event. Artists are invited to pick up the forms here at our offices.
