The Hassan Maajar Trust, www.hassanmaajartrust.org is registered as a company limited by guarantee and also as a non- governmental organization (“NGO”) is a not for profit, non-partisan and non-religious organization that works with people in Tanzania and elsewhere to provide school desks and other furniture and learning equipment for schools in Tanzania.
The Hassan Maajar Trust (“HMT”) seeks to improve the learning environment and to promote sports in schools in Tanzania. HMT intends to mobilize and to receive from the public, individuals, donor agencies, Government institutions, corporate entities and other bodies whether corporate or otherwise funds, properties and other assets of every description whatsoever, and to hold in trust, administer and apply such funds, properties or other assets to procure school furniture and teaching equipment of all kinds and description, including desks, chairs, black boards, books, computers, sporting facilities and equipment, and every kind of paraphernalia necessary for teaching and improving the teaching environment in schools and to promote the sport of basketball.
The HMT is partenering with Africa Barrick Gold (ABG) Maendeleo Fund to address the shortage of school desks in the Lake Zone regions through its flagship project; “A Desk for Every Child – Dawati Kwa Kila Mtoto”. A Desk for Every Child is an initiative to tacklw the national desks deficit.
The HMT seeks to fill the following vacancies immediately:
1. PROGRAMME MANAGER
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Field Project Coordinators (3-5)
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam but with frequent travel to Lake Zone regions
Contract Tenure: Six (6) Months
Job Purpose:
To plan and coordinate implementation of programme activities , monitor and evaluate progress and produce periodic progress reports.
Detailed Job Description
Key Outputs:
(1) Plan and budget
Plan and coordinate needs assessment in the designated programme areas
Do analysis of demand and supply in each specific area
Compile a comprehensive report on the findings including recommendations
Present the report to relevant authorities
Prepare an implementation plan and budget
Present the plan and budget to management for review and approval
(2) Reliable desks suppliers selected
Facilitate the work of Desk Committee within HMT
Coordinate the process of selecting desks suppliers
Track all process flow and manage paperwork related to procurement processes
Manage correspondence with suppliers, designated schools, AGB and other stakeholders in the supply and demand chains
Supervise the suppliers’ contracting process
(3) High Quality Desks Supplied
Supervise Field Project Coordinators to ensure they monitor the production process of desks
Work with designated ABG staff to assess the quality of the desks before delivery
Monitor the activities in all programme areas
Review reports from Field Project Coordinators and respond to request for support expeditiously
Review pre-delivery inspection report and (if need be) make random inspections
(4) Well managed programme visibility
Provide input in preparing promotional materials
Coordinate preparation of desks delivery events
In collaboration with ABG designated staff stage desk delivery, tree planting campaigns and other events
(5) Reports
Produce weekly narrative and financial reports
Produce comprehensive project reports including lessons learnt
Produce end of project evaluation report
(6) Subordinate Effectiveness
Set performance targets for Field Project Coordinators
Monitor performance and provide support where necessary
Conduct monthly performance appraisals and take corrective measures
Advise management on matters related to contract renewal of each subordinate
(7) Any other outputs as may be directed by management

2. FIELD PROJECT COORDINATORS
The job is open to suitable candidates who are currently residing and working in any of the three districts; Kahama, Biaharamulo and Tarime
Job Title: Field Project Coordinator
Reports to: Programme Manager
Supervises: None
Duty Station: In the respective District
Contract Tenure: Six (6) months
Job Purpose:
Responsible for coordinating implementation of desk supply and other projects in their respective assigned geographical areas.
Detailed Job Description
Key Outputs:
(1) Plan and Budget Process supported
Coordinate data collection activities in the respective area
Facilitate the work of data collectors
Revisit identified suppliers (if need be) to verify information
Submit any additional information to inform the planning and budgeting process
(2) Desks production and supply is smoothly done
Supervise the production of desks to ensure suppliers adhere to set standards
Inspect the desks to ensure quality standards are maintained
Ensure suppliers keep to the agreed lead time
Submit weekly progress report on production and suggest actions that must be taken to ensure the set targets are met
(3) Tree plant projects are running in the respective area
Work with ABG designated staff in initiating tree planting campaigns
Liaise with relevant authorities in the district to promote tree planting
Visits schools and encourage formation of tree planting clubs
Support preparation of staging tree planting events
(4) High quality desks delivered to designated schools
Carry out pre-delivery inspection of all desks
Prepare and submit inspection report
Support the process of delivering the desks
Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure desks delivery events are well attended
(5) Any other outputs as directed by management

Remuneration:
