Manchester United U.S Tour – JULY 2011

Manchester United will set camp at the Seattle Sounders Training grounds for the entire week of July 13th, as they prepare for the start of the EPL. At the end of their weekly camp, they will play a friend game against the Seattle Sounders.

When we hosted the Ministry of Tourism officials and Tanzania Embassy officials in the U.S, on May 21st 2011, we discussed how we to leverage on this huge game to further promote and brand Tanzania.

It was proposed, by Mr. Suleiman Saleh of the Tanzania Embassy in the U.S, that a quality Tanzanian player with potential of playing professional football abroad should train with us for two week and hopefully participate in the friendly against Manchester United as part of the overall efforts to promote tourism in Tanzania and also an opportunity for that player to show his talents to the rest of the world.

Through our Tanzanian contacts, it was established that Mrisho Ngassa of Azam FC would be the best candidate to do so. We have since made contact with Azam FC ownership and we are happy to announce that they fully support this and have given us permission to host Ngassa for two weeks.

This game will be broadcasted to millions across the world and the Tourism official in Tanzania can leverage on this opportunity to promote your beautiful country.

It is our sincere belief that the promising partnership between Seattle Sounders and the numerous entities in Tanzania would create opportunities stretching from tourism sector, private investment, social services and development of sports mainly soccer.

We look forward to building that partnership.
