Javed Jafferji and Amitabh Aurora were participating in Asia’s largest film festival and convention, FICCI, which ended last week.
FRAMES is a three day global convention covering the entire gamut of Media & Entertainment like Films, Broadcast (TV & Radio), Digital Entertainment, Animation, Gaming, Visual Effects, etc. with nearly 2000 Indian and 800 foreign delegates encompassing the entire universe of media and entertainment expected to attend the event.

Javed Jafferji, producer of new Bongo film, Glamour together with the film’s director, and Amitabh Aurora also attended FICCI to promote the film in Bollywood. This is the first time any Tanzanian film has been promoted in any such festival in Asia.
There was an extremely good reaction. The pair had many positive meetings with Indian film industry officials, to encourage more Indian film makers to visit Tanzania and specially Zanzibar to make their new productions here, after two years ago, Javed Jafferji was responsible for organizing for a Tamil film crew to came to Zanzibar to make a film entitled Ayaan. The film ensure that Zanzibar saw two weeks of large scale filmmaking action, and the film was also released on the island.
Ayaan (The Creator) is a Tamil action thriller film written and directed by K. V. Anand. The film, starring Surya, Prabhu, Tamannaah and Akashdeep Saighal in lead roles, was produced by M. Saravananand M. S. Guhan, while distribution handled by Sun Pictures. The film score was composed by Harris Jayaraj, the soundtrack released on January 19, 2009. Edited by Anthony Gonsalvez, the film was filmed by M. S. Prabhu. The film's story revolves around Deva, a youngster whose mother wants him to become a government official. He, on the other hand, works for a smuggling group run by Arumuga Dass who has been looking after him since childhood. Conflict occurs when Deva's arch rival, Kamalesh opposes and tries to eliminate Arumuga Dass from the smuggling business. Who wins in the conflict forms the climax of the story.
The film was launched in Chennai, while filming also took place in various locations out of India, including Namibia, Malaysia, Zanzibar and South Africa. It released on April 3, 2009 worldwide to positive reviews, emerging a high commercial success. It was also dubbed and released on May 1, 2009 in Telugu as Veedokkade.
After finishing the festival Javed Jafferji and Amitabh Aurora visited numerous film studios such as Film City and the MTV studios, and saw how they are working in Mumbai’s Bollywood. They felt that the whole set up is amazing and technology they are using is far advanced. They saw various film sets and met many producers who are interested in shooting their films in Zanzibar.
Amitabh Aurora said “this trip was very constructive and I am sure we can expand and built a good relationship between the Indian and Tanzanian film industries”.
