Hon. Nimrod Mkono this week hosted a wedding reception for his daughter Dr. Neema Mkono and her husband Dr. Moise Anglade, and to introduce a new member of the Mkono family, baby Rehema, the USA-based couple's daughter. The reception was held at the Kilimanjaro Kempinsky hotel on the 27th of March 2011. Synopsis of Glamour: The Reality Behind Dreams

This fast paced drama filled with comical moments as well as harsh realities, shows the life of a Muslim Zanzibari girl, who from chilhood dreams of becoming a model, posing in front of the mirror and taking pictures of herself at every opportunity.

Sophia battles with her conservative mother who sacraficed all for her daughter, and moves to the big city, Dar es Salaam with the help of her boyfriend against her mother’s wishes. Anxious to get to the top, Sophia is lucky enough to find opportunities with celebrated Tanzanian fashion designer, Mustafa Hassanali and famous Zanzibari photographer, Javed Jafferji.

Once successful, Sophia’s ego allows her to neglect and mistreat those who helped her to the top, and soon she is forced to desperate levels to stay on top. Showing the gritty realities behind the glamourous modelling industry, Glamour teaches us that all that glitters is not gold.

Photographer, and Producer of the film, Javed Jafferji has worked with numerous models over the years, but picked none other than Eva Issac (aka Eva the Diva) to play the main protagonist in the film as he states that “Eva has the best body in the business”.

As a result of the film, Eva has received an offer from Playboy magazine in the US, which she is currently considering, and Glamour: The Reality Behind Dreams, Director, Amitabh Aurora will soon be taking Eva to FICCI – the world’s largest film event held in India in order to promote the film. It is Eva’s hope that she can break into Bollywood cinema as well as the Nollywood industry and beyond, and it has already been proven that this new era Bongo Movie is more than just a stepping stone – it has already been life changing, launching promising acting careers for many.


Eva has worked regularly for fashion designer and socialite, Mustafa Hassanali, modelling his couture designs, and it is in Glamour: The Reality Behind Dreams where he makes his acting debut. Experienced actress, Mama Mjata also features in the film, and says that shooting glamour was the “very best experience” of her acting career. Glamour also stars none other than Bond Bin Sulieman, James Alistair, Full Tank, Javed Jafferji amongst others. James Alistair, previously unknown on in the Bongo Movie industry has stared in various Hollywood films, showing just how this new era of bongo movies is now attracting filmmakers and actors from around the world.

Amitabh Aurora who directed the film, is an Indian actor and filmmaker from Mumbai who has come to Tanzania, passionate about improving the quality of filmmaking here, training Tanzanian filmmakers and actors to improve their films to meet the demands of the Tanzanian and international markets. Glamour: The Reality Behind Dreams shows that his hard work and dedication with the ZG Films crew has truly payed off.

Vodacom Tanzania outsources network operations, energy management to Nokia Siemens Networks

* First of its kind combined network and energy management outsourcing
* Deal aims to reduce operating costs, improve efficiency, save energy and offer competitive tariffs to its customers

Vodacom Tanzania is transforming its network operations to improve performance and service quality for its nine million subscribers. Under a five-year managed services contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will use it strong presence in eastern Africa to manage, operate and maintain Vodacom’s network to reduce operating costs. In addition, the vendor will provide its energy solutions enriched with Managed Energy Services* to reduce Vodacom’s energy consumption, improving efficiency.

“We are committed to providing a world-class customer experience,” said Dietlof Mare, managing director, Vodacom Tanzania. “We trust Nokia Siemens Networks with one of our most vital assets, our network, to help us realize greater network and operational efficiency. The deal will help us consolidate our strong position in a highly competitive market.”

“This agreement is a key milestone in our engagement with Vodacom and shows our strong commitment to operators in Africa,” said Armando Almeida, head of Global Services, Nokia Siemens Networks. “We will apply the experience we’ve gained in other emerging markets with our global best practice in network operations to help Vodacom achieve world-class network quality and operational efficiency. Our aim is to allow Vodacom to focus on its core business and deliver greater value to its shareholders.”

“We look forward to integrating Vodacom Tanzania operations team into our global services team. We are excited about the synergies and opportunities that will be created as we begin to work together,” added Almeida.

Under the managed services contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide full network operations for Vodacom Tanzania. The vendor will take over complete responsibility for the existing Network Management Center and operations across the radio, transmission and core networks, as well as network planning and optimization. As part of the agreement, 124 Vodacom Tanzania employees will transfer to Nokia Siemens Networks.

As part of the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will deploy 338 hybrid energy solution sites to help Vodacom Tanzania enhance energy efficiency and reduce energy cost. The operator will also benefit from increased savings in operating costs by applying Nokia Siemens Network’s architecture design skills, and its proven managed service capabilities, such as first line maintenance and remote service delivery for site energy management. As part of the deal, Nokia Siemens Networks will also implement remote management of energy with its green energy control service designed to ensure optimal use of field resources. It includes monitoring of all energy sources as well as corrective and preventive site maintenance.

Kufuatia taarifa hii, serikali iliielekeza Wizara ya Afya na Ustawi wa Jamii kuwa, ufanyike haraka uchunguzi kuhusu dawa hii na itoe ushauri Serikalini ipasavyo. Baada ya kupokea maagizo hayo, Wizara iliteua wataalamu kutoka taasisi zake tukiwemo sisi, TFDA, NIMR, Muhimbili kwa maana ya MUHAS, Mkemia Mkuu na tulijumuisha wataalamu wa hapa wizarani ili kuifanya kazi hiyo muhimu, akiwemo Msajili wa Tiba Asili na Mbadala.

Hapo Machi 7 mwaka huu, sisi TFDA na wenzetu wanasayansi tulifanya safari kwenda Samunge kuonana na kufanya mazungumzo na Mchungaji mstaafu AmbilikileMasapila. Sisi TFDA na wataalam wenzangu wote, tunamshukuru sana mchungaji mstaafu kwa ushirikiano na msaada mkubwa aliotupa sisi watafiti wote. kwa kuwa tulifanya mazungumzo kwa masaa kadhaa kuhusu dawa hiyo jinsi alivyoanza pia, alituonyesha mti unaotumika na alitupa sehemu mbali mbali za mti huo kwa uchunguzi zaidi.
