AT NAFASI
Wednesday, 19 October: Josh Kagimu aka RAP POET will have his end of residency exhibition at Nafasi. During his three weeks at Nafasi he has developed a performance piece on the art and act of the "selfie" photograph

Jumatano, 19 Oktoba: Josh Kagimu aka RAP POET atafanya onesho lake la kumaliza muda wake wa kukaa Nafasi akitokea Uganda. Kwa kipindi chote cha wiki tatu hapa Nafasi ameandaa onesho la sanaa juu ya kitendo cha kujipiga picha "selfie".

Wednesday 26 October: Nduta Kariuki from the Go Down Centre in Nairobi will present her end of residency exhibition. She is a painter and graphic designer from Kenya.

Jumatano, 26 Oktoba: Nduta Kariuki kutoka GoDown Nairobi nae atafanya onesho la kumaliza muda wake wa kukaa nafasi kama msanii mgeni. Yeye ni mchoraji na pia ni Mbunifu wa kutumia komputer "Graphic Designer"
Time2Dance Festival
This year's Time2Dance Festival at Nafasi will take place on 28 and 29 October, with our regular Chap Chap public art event. Please see the poster below for more details!

Mwaka huu Tamasha la Time2Dance litafanyika Nafasi tarehe 28 na 29 Oktoba, sambamba na tukio la kila mwisho wa mwezi la "ChapChap" sanaa kwa uma. Tafadhali angalia bango kwa maelezo zaidi.

Special musical guests from Norway and South Africa will make guest appearances.

Wanamuziki maalumu kutoka Norwey na Afrika ya Kusini wataburudisha.

CHAP CHAP DANCE
MuDa Africa dancers will help with this month's CHAP CHAP public art workshop by involving participants in a one-of-a-kind flashmob! Bring the family and take part in creating art with some new dance moves. See poster below for more info.

KIJIWENI CINEMA
Thanks to everyone who attended The Battle of Algiers screening last week, we had a great turn out! Next month, don't miss "Beats of the Antonov", which will be screened as a part of our partnership with Kijiweni Cinema and the African Screen Network.

WORKSHOPS
Making Music Productions from South Africa is bringing Rhoda Isaacs, a seasoned event manager from South Africa, to Nafasi to conduct a one-day intensive workshop on event production. Whether you want to put on an exhibition, a festival, or a corporate event, this workshop will give you the skills and strategies you need to succeed. SPANISH ART COMPETITION
The deadline is almost here! Please submit your entry by 20 October to be considered. Also, we're excited to announce that the second and third place artists will receive a generous cash prize!

CALL FOR NEW STUDIO MEMBERS - PERFORMING ARTISTS
We have extended the deadline for applications to join Nafasi as a studio member. This call is specifically for performing artists practicing contemporary art -- performance pieces, music, theatre, and dance. Don't hesitate to contact us in case of any questions. CALL FOR VIDEO ART SUBMISSIONS
The Boda Boda Lounge Project is a cross-continental video festival that will feature at over 15 spaces throughout Africa between the 18 – 20 November 2016. Boda Boda Lounge Project is currently accepting video art submissions from artists based in Africa and of African descent. Relevant submissions will be put forward for intercontinental screening and exhibition programming.

The Boda Boda Lounge Project is a collaborative project between VANSA (South Africa), Waza (Congo DRC) and VAN Lagos (Nigeria). The deadline for submissions has been extended to Monday, 24 October 2016. For application forms and more details click here >>

MORE ART EVENTS
From 17-24, there will be an exhibit of Italian painter Pippo Oriani at Alliance Francaise.

On 20 October, Joshua Kagimu (Nafasi Artist in Resident) will host Tontoma Jazz and Poetry night at CDEA featuring Tanzanian poets and artists.
