Major finals, plus Copa America and more, in SuperSport’s never-ending football offering

As the football season nears its conclusion, SuperSport viewers will find themselves in the unique position of having the luxury of watching three major finals - the FA Cup, the German Cup and Copa del Rey - this weekend. No other broadcaster in the world can rival this feast of football.

Arsenal, playing a record 19th FA Cup final, will be looking to successfully defend their title when they take on Aston Villa at the iconic Wembley Stadium (live on SS3 HD from 5.30pm).

Borussia Dortmund face Wolfsburg in the German Cup final (live on SS7 HD from 7.55pm) determined to put behind them a forgettable 2014-15 season, which saw them flirt with relegation at one point, by winning the cup which could also be a parting gift to coach Jurgen Klopp. He is leaving after an eight-year stay.

With one out of the three titles they are bidding for already in the bag, Barcelona renew their Copa del Rey final rivalry with Athletic Bilbao. It’s their eighth final meeting and they are seeking the dream double. The match is live on SS3 HD from 9.30pm.

The curtain officially comes down on the football season next weekend when Juventus battle it out with Barcelona for club football’s ultimate prize, the Champions League title. The winner could be a treble champion.

SuperSport’s extensive coverage of the final includes an hour-long pitch-side build-up with Carol Tshabalala and Benni McCarthy. Despite the Champions League final signaling a close, the season never ends on the World of Champions.

Just five days later South America’s finest footballers will kick up a major storm as they battle it out for continental glory in the 44th edition of the COPA America. The June 11–July 4 tournament, hosted by Chile, will be broadcast exclusively live and in HD on SuperSport.

“South America continues to be the biggest exporter of football talent to the world and the Copa America is the ground where star players like Neymar, Sergio Aguero, Alexis Sanchez, Edinson Cavani, Phillipe Coutinho and others announce themselves before moving on to some of the biggest clubs across the world. We are ecstatic at being able to bring such a prestigious tournament to our viewers,” said a beaming Brandon Foot, Acting Chief Executive of SuperSport.

Lionel Messi and Neymar have recently formed football’s most fearsome strike partnership and have proved unstoppable, scoring more than 90 goals between them this season.

Having worked so well for the common cause of club glory, Argentina’s Messi and Brazil’s Neymar now find themselves at opposite ends in the quest for continental supremacy. Sadly, the in-form Luis Suarez’s continued international ban for biting at the World Cup means he’s not available for selection for Uruguay.
All COPA America matches will be live on SS3 HD. Kickoff times range from 9pm CAT, 11pm CAT, 11.30pm CAT and 01.30am CAT.
“Given the live timings, we’ll also be scheduling a number of repeats at prime times throughout the next day,” explained Docky Dockrat, SuperSport’s Head of Programming, ensuring viewers need not miss a minute of the action.

SuperSport has also acquired rights to most of the off-season club friendly tournaments, including the Audi Cup which features Real Madrid, Roma and Manchester City as well as a host of international friendlies.
